SIDEQUEST; Investigate the Caverns!

Description: There's something disrupting the signal in the caverns! Renko's gathered up some help to investigate. Hopefully they can figure it out!
Warnings/Notes: None that I'm aware of!

Looking for a way to help in proving herself to the community, Renko had heard about a potential signal disruption originating from the caverns located outside of Union. Knowing she'd be unable to do it herself, and strength in numbers was always a solid strategy most of the time, she had found a couple of others willing to investigate the disturbance with her.

Getting to the caverns was the easy part. It was traversing through them that had Renko interested. Caves had always seemed dark and mysterious. Certainly worth exploring, with or without a goal in mind. Even though she was lacking in the whole being an Enlightened thing, she did her best to keep up with them. Hopping alongside her was Akamu, her Seedot and Proteus the Solosis was in her arms. Her Cleffa as usual, slumbered in her bag.

Turning for a moment to speak to whoever was closest, she broke the silence. "Exactly how far do these caverns go? Have they ever been mapped out?"

"Perhaps. Whatever it is, finding out what's causing it will allow us to try and figure out a way around it."

Renko couldn't help but stare in awe at the cavern they found themselves in. It was...beautiful in a science sort of way. Well, this would also explain the disruption with the signal. A strong magnetic source could easily be the cause of it.

"I'm assuming this is what we're looking for."

"Probably..but what's causin' it? It kinda reminds me of the last little cavern searchin' ya know?"

Okay, Only one of the group would get what she was talking about but still. Marisa will look about, not letting the fire go out just yet. Better to be safe then sorry in this case.

"As long as there ain't something messin' with the pokemon..."

"The real question is, how do we fix it so it's not interfering with the signal anymore?" Reimu mused, looking around.

It was a good question as far as Reimu was concerned. If was some kind of natural phenomenon, then it didn't seem like it'd be easy to deal with.

"I believe I have heard tell of these sorts of phenomena before. Rumor has it places like this are ideal towards the evolution of certain Pokemon, although I cannot confirm the veracity of that." She looks around, peering closely at the arcs.

"Which... hmm. That may also mean a place like this might attract something. Stay on guard."

As the team enters, they start getting a bit of interference on their warp bands. This is definitely the area that's causing the disturbance, but it's not the core source.

Before leaving the city, you were all given beacons. These small, disc-like devices fit in the palm of your hand. If placed and secured near the area that is producing the signal, they will help neutralize the issue - but they must be secured in order to continue to do so. However, they must be placed near the source to be effective, so the team will have to explore deeper into the cavern.

"Whether it's messing with the local wildlife or not, it's still messing with the signal."

Renko does catch that mention of it possibly being a location used for evolution. That information may very well be useful down the line. She'll definitely have to come back and map the place out another time. But first things first! They needed to find the exact source of whatever is causing this disturbance.

"Okay, let's spread out a bit. Using our warp bands, let's see if we can find a spot that's causing the greatest disturbance. That's what we need to find."

"Doesn't mean it's not more or less important."

Marisa just frowned and turned away, moving to the side to start looking about, fumbling with her warp band every so often to try and do like Renko suggests. Although it means she can no longer keep up the flame in her hand.

There's a definite signal disruption coming from further ahead. You see an incline that seems to go deeper into the cave, sloping downward into what appears to be a large bowl-like area.

If Renko hadn't been paying any attention, she very likely would have stumbled down the incline. It seemed they were going in the right direction though! The further down the incline she went, the more the signal seemed to be disrupted.

Whatever was the source of the disruption had to be just ahead! This was getting pretty exciting. Whatever it was, no one had stumbled upon it before, or at least in recent history. "Down here!"

"Huh?" Marisa was farther off but was quick to perk up and turn at the call. She didn't catch her before the incline but...With a sigh, the witch dismounted her broom. She didn't want to, just because they had not seen any trouble yet but...

Once her feet hit the ground, she followed, waving the other two along, "Come on, let's see!"

Reimu followed, having been looking around herself before she heard Renko's shout.

"Did you find something?" She asked Renko curiously as she followed after Marisa.

Ran followed, descending the ravine on hands and feet for increased stability. Orange wasn't quite so skilled, although bless her heart, she tried. Then Naranja tripped, and collided into her, and both of them tumble down the side in a true show of grace.

Ran sighed.

Renko glanced back over her shoulder to make sure the others were following, and thankfully, they were.

"I don't see anything yet, but this area, it's almost like a crater, isn't it?"

Well, that and the fact the disruption seemed strongest here. She began rummaging through her bag for the device she'd been given to help stabilize a signal.

"Right around here somewhere."

The magnetic pull intensifies, as does the interference. And then two massive steel bombs blast out from the area, homing in on Reimu and Marisa and attaching themselves to both of them with unerring accuracy before exploding. The damage isn't life-threatening, but it definitely hurts.

Two of one strange Pokemon and two of another slightly less strange Pokemon appear!

The self styled witch just shakes her head a bit, like she was going to let people go off on their own? Especially in a unknown place, Marisa didn't trust it. Even if she was starting to relax because this whole thing just felt so easy...Until those bombs appeared. She panicked a bit, trying to get the one attached to her off.

"EH?! What the he-"

The explosion knocked her down, sending her hat off her head and her broom skittering away, out of reach. The hat moved a bit, as the impact woke her Cherrim who was trying to figure out what happened. Marisa slowly started to sit up with a wince. That hurt...Not something she wanted to go through again. But her eyes widen at the appearance of the three Pokemon. She's starting to reach for her Warp Band, just in case, especially since Spark came running at seeing the witch get hit and is bristling at the Pokemon.

Reimu was frowning a bit as she looked around. Things had seemed to be going alright so far, but to be honest, Reimu was starting to think things were too easy. They hadn't run into any pokemon at all since arriving here...

Even though she was technically more on her guard than Marisa, she wasn't quite able to avoid the bomb aimed at her either. Surprised and very annoyed (she knew this was all too easy) she also attempted to get her bomb off of her before it exploded.

"What?! Hey!"

Unfortunately, she also gets knocked off her feet, her summoned yin yang orb dematerailizing due to her lost concentration. Ruukoto yelped and ran over to her partner as the miko painfully sat up grumbling incoherently as she glared at the three pokemon approaching them.

"Ugh, I knew things were going to smoothly..."

Ran reacts quickly before she has any time to register her enemies. She Roars in the direction the bombs came from before wheeling in front of her own Pokemon looking ferocious. Tch. Such strange looking Pokemon... and yet ones she suspects are quite formidable.

The Pokemon are vibrating with agitation. All four of them are charging electricity, preparing for the next assault.

This wasn't a good situation, that much was completely obvious. While Renko hadn't personally seen these two Pokémon before, figuring out their typing was easy enough. The solo one was Steel/Electric. The other was Steel...and something else.

Either way, she didn't have any Pokémon with attacks that could fight them effectively. She'd have to leave this to her companions, unless she could wake Luna up. The most she could do was attempt to put the attacking Pokémon to sleep.

Thankfully, it seemed her companions weren't nearly as helpless as she was. While she reached into her bag to pull out her sleeping Cleffa, Renko did her best to step behind them for a moment, at least until she could wake Luna up.

Her hat finally making it back to her side, Marisa picks it up and puts it on, revealing the Pokemon under it. She frowns, glancing at the hostile pokemon before picking up Yuuka.

"Guys..I don't think we are gettin' out of this without a fight...So let's give them one."

Marisa doesn't even give a command, Yuuka just reacts to the situation. Two balls of light form, brightening up the area as best it could as it formed a sun in the middle of things up high and causing the Pokemon to bloom into it's secondary form. Marisa had a feeling most of her stuff would not work..and her Pokemon seem to agree as Spark and Magus stay beside her as she gets up, trying to be ready for the next attack.

Two of those were steel types. This wasn't good. Electricity wasn't good for her flying type either. Reimu narrows her eyes and climbs to her feet again, resummoning her Yin Yang orbs and whipping out a handful of ofuda. "They'll get a fight alright..."

Ami moved to join her without needing to be told, while Ruukoto moved forward a bit. Hiroki was back at the shrine, and Reimu decided not to call him since he was part water type anyway so he'd be pretty useless.

Ruukoto moved first, hitting their opponents with a sand attack in order to make it harder for them to aim their attacks.

Maybe the others were having trouble with the new arrivals. However, putting a fire-type like Ran against Steel types... well now.

Ran repositioned herself to get the best angle on one of the Steel pokemon before letting loose a spiraling wave of fire from her mouth, hoping to trap it in the flames. She wouldn't be much use against the ones that weren't obviously metal, but she figured she at least had the capacity to handle the others.

As Yuuka opens up in the sunlight, all friendly Enlightened and Pokemon in the area can immediately feel the benefit as invigorating strength flows through them. As a cloud of dust kicks off, one of the Probopass is hedged out by Ran's flame attack. The other three, however, launch bolts of electricity, the arc a bit off due to the blinding sand.

While Renko herself can't feel the effects of the Cherrim's ability, her Pokémon certainly do. Her Cleffa wakes up and...immediately begins crying. Not what she had in mind.

She wouldn't allow herself to be completely useless though. She still had her Solosis and Seedot. While her offensive power left much to be desired, she could still put up some defense. Her Solosis bounced slowly up towards the rest of the group's Pokémon. "Proteus, use Light Screen!"

If anything, she could take the edge off of those electric attacks.

Once Yuuka was done and she felt the affects, Marisa just grinned and turned her attention to the other obviously Steel type pokemon.

"Not the best of ideas ya know..We are tryin' ta help!"

She at least sounds sorry before she holds out ehr hand in concentration, sending a small ball of fire flying at the pokemon. Yuuka is adding in, sending out leaves that shine brightly and go towards the pokemon.
