[Action]

[Armin decided that the best place to watch his eggs hatch is in the sector of the Habitats where he's been sleeping since the quakes -- because someone is independent to a fault and hasn't let on that his home was damaged. But it's better this way, because there's enough room for Meredith-the-Ralts and Murgatroyd-the-Cherubi to cluster around the two eggs, with Gertrude-the-Steelix (who does NOT belong in this part of the Habitats, wow) looming protectively over the little group.

The black-and-yellow striped egg had cracked first, and now it slowly splits open, revealing what appears to be a tiny ball of fluff. Armin draws in his breath, gently tugging Meredith away from poking at the new baby --]

Mareep! You're a Mareep! [This is whispered in the most reverent of tones, then the Warp Band is hastily switched on.]

[Voice]

It's a Mareep!! [Warp Band is promptly turned off, because what is context?]

[CLOSE ENOUGH.]

He was by the rubble? [And much more cheerful than anyone sane would sound] Hey! That's great!

...is it? [Armin sounds absolutely baffled by this because wtf Sora.]

Yeah! It's-

[Oh. Right. Armin has no idea what's going on]

Ha...it's...kinda a long story?

Oh!

Oh, w-well, that's...that's all right, it's your business. He was very pleasant to talk to, all the same.

Sorry, it's not that...

[And now he feels bad. It's not that he wants to hide anything from his friend (well about that anyway), it's just...hard to explain. Especially with the idea of what people might think of and treat Roxas.]

[But with what Eren told Sora about Armin's life...well, maybe he might understand better.]

It's just- for awhile now he hasn't really gone anywhere or talked much with people.

So if he went to see the rubble and talked to you- that's a really good sign!

-- oh. [He does understand -- maybe not completely, since he assumes controlling family members is the main cause -- but he still understands. And smiles a little to himself, voice soothing and upbeat.]

Then that's good! He was very nice to talk to and his Pokemon friends were as well. He was pleased to hear I knew you too. [Also Armin miiiight have mentioned Sora's aspirations to become a Ranger, oops.]

[oh Armin no. Even if his parents were still alive, they were the sort to ditch their kids on an island when they were four years old, supervised solely by a five year old. VERY LITTLE CONTROL GOING ON THERE]

[~~wow good job Armin~~ But he sounds happy. Roxas going out and talking to people? That's great! He's in such of a good mood he'll tease some with a laugh at Armin's last part]

I'd hope he'd be pleased! I'd hate to think he finds me embarrassing to know.

[Though let's face it...he can be pretty embarrassing to know]

[Apparently "lovely" is easier for Armin to use than "normal".]

[Maybe this is one of Armin's worries. About being a freak, being weird. He can understand why, knowing what he knew now about Armin's life. They had similar powers...so maybe Armin's trying to say the things he'd want to hear himself. People did that sometimes]

I wouldn't mind that much though, if you did think I was a freak.

[Armin draws in his breath, sharply, shaking his head even though Sora can't see it.]

I-I wouldn't! Not ever!

I didn't say you would, Armin. But if you did, I wouldn't mind that much!

[You know, just in case you ever do think so]

I mean I know it sounds weird, but...I'm actually pretty used to being overlooked. So even if I know it's bad to be called a freak, I have to admit it's kinda nice to be noticed.

[Armin's quiet for a moment, taking this in. He's used to being alone, but not because he's overlooked. It's a new, sort of upsetting concept. So, he finally says in that soft, fervent voice of his:]

Well, I won't ever ignore you. And neither will anyone else important.

[Annd Sora is surprised because wow, Armin took that much more to heart than he thought he would. Sure it wasn't false, but it's not like he saw it as a crippling problem either! Just explained why he didn't mind if people called him weird! It was better than being nobody special! ]

[Maybe he should just refrain from the personal anecdotes until Armin's got a slightly thicker skin]

Heh...I know, friends are great like that!

You don't have to worry about me. It's not like it keeps me up at night. And like I said, I'm Enlightened now so I get noticed! [Though it also helps that everyone who surpassed him before is dead, missing or a zombie...but he'll leave that part out]

I mean, other than the people who don't notice me because I'm short. So I guess I'm still overlooked sometimes.

[A beat, oh right]

Uh, that last part was a joke....if you didn't get it.

I-I got it! It's "overlooked" in the literal sense because...um...

[He absolutely 100% did not get it. But he'll relax a little, at least?]
