[Wearing his normal Commander robes, Swain is wandering Union admiring the decorations and festivities. But lo! Something is different. It's hard to put your finger on it, exactly, but if one had to guess it's probably the extremely elaborate Murkrow mask he's wearing. Ever-faithful Beatrice is perched upon his shoulders as usual, but she's making quite the ruckus. As such, little children can be seen fleeing whilst sobbing. Noticing this, he removes his mask with a bit of a perplexed expression]

Too much, perhaps?

[ Leading a small band of children himself, the young man noticed as they screamed and scattered, blinking a few times and stopping himself. Turning toward Swain and Beatrix, blue eyes blinking through the holes in his Driblim mask. He lifts it slightly, staring. ]

Wow. You're good at this. Haha! That was great! But probably a bit too scary for the little ones, huh?

Maybe you should try to be a little less spooky around the little ones. You don't want to give them nightmares, right?

[ The young man closes in, a deep, VERY SERIOUS frown on his face. ]

You don't, right? That wouldn't be very nice. Ghosts aren't supposed to be scary all the time, you know.

Technically speaking it's not a ghost, but no, I am not attempting to give anybody nightmares.

[ He did have a point. Still, Murkrows could be scary too, in the right circumstances. Oh well, no harm done. The young man gives Swain an easygoing smile. ]

Where did you get a mask like that, anyway? It's really impressive!

I have some craftsmen contacts back at home, when I heard about the festival I sent out for it.

[ He looks like he's trying to stay optimistic, but there's a certain... tinge to his voice. It appears that someone has experienced Sanctuary's main dish first hand. Poor soul. ]

Maybe, but people are pretty adaptive. I'm also pretty sure they don't like being stared at, so you would think that they might figure out to put the Magikarp in going the other way.

But then you'd have Magikarp tails sticking out at you. Hmm, that doesn't sound good either.

[ Dressed in her full costume, handing out fliers to further advertise the special Soulfasting showing of their play, Sanae is caught completely off guard. She nearly jumps out of her skin, and her papers go flying as the teen falls over in a panic. ]

Oh dear miss, are you quite all right?

[ Wow, that really hurt. Grimacing a bit, Sanae tries to do her best to laugh it off, looking up at Swain cautiously. Okay, she thought Soulfasting was supposed to be fun and that was not fun. ]

Yeah, I think so.

[ Wait, she was holding onto something a second ago. ]

Ahh--! My fliers!

[ Well, that was one way to get them circulating. Quite a few catch in the breeze, and the young actress, completely crestfallen, watches them go. ]

Aww...

[A loud caw has Beatrice taking wing, gathering up several of the fliers as Swain picks up a few more, as many as he can manage. Beatrice returns them to him, and he shuffles them neatly back together and presents Sanae with the sheaf]

Yours, I believe miss?

[ Trying to scramble for fliers, Sanae pauses when Swain engages her again. ]

Huh? Oh.

[ It wasn't all of them, but it looked like a large amount of the pile had been recovered. She smiles a bit. ]

Yes, um, thank you. You really didn't have to...

Not at all. I underestimated the... artistry of this mask so it is the least I can do.

It really scared me, aha...

[ Nearly gave her a heart attack, actually. ]

But then again, just about everything is a bit scary around here right now.

That does rather seem to be the atmosphere. It's interesting. Union celebrations are truly something else.

Aren't they? They don't hold a candle to the kind we get in Citadel, but they're still a lot of fun!

I am indeed new. I hail from Sanctuary. Beatrice here has been my trusted companion since I was a boy.

[Beatrice caws, an ungodly sound even by Murkrow standards]

[ Oh right, that place. The one with the creepy stuff going on not too long ago. Where she had to fight a Greninja and its companion. Also where she evolved.

That was a weird week. ]

Does that mean you're a mage? Can you do magic and things like that?

[For her part, Raine is decked out in an elegant liepard costume that is essentially, purple robes with a particular spotted pattern over a golden-yellow dress, accompanied by purple cat ears and over-sized pink glasses.

The fleeing children, not to mention the startled reaction of her pikachu (accompanying her wearing a houndour costume), pique her interest to find the source of the disturbance.]

That's... certainly very elaborate. Though the reactions are likely because your partner seems particularly animated as well.
