I ϟ [Action]

Jason had been waiting for this day for a long time. As such, he couldn't tell if the tingling he felt was from the electricity pulsing between his fingers or his actual nerves. Then again, it could just be left over nerves from the earthquakes that had been plaguing the city. It was certainly an interesting time that he was getting accepted into the Rangers, that was for sure. He just hoped his first day among the Rangers would go better than some of his first days of school.

Well, he wasn't going to get anywhere just hanging around his room. He pulled on his jacket and Piper stirred from her perch near his bed. She chirped loudly and flew over to his shoulder after his jacket was on. Of course he couldn't go without his Fletchling, though he hoped the Flying pokemon would stay out of his hair at least for today.

Jason feels as ready as he'll ever be and sets out of the Residential District and in the direction of the Outpost.

"Piper! Jason!" That ball of of energy waving really excitedly before she rushes over to say hi? Well, that's Imogen. She seems to be the exact same girl she always is. The Umbreon at her side was new... but given Imogen's partner was an Eevee it's a quick guess that it's Brighteyes.

"Off to something important?"

Jason stops and turns, the movement causing Piper to chirp and flutter up into the air off of his shoulder. He recognizes the voice easily enough, the familiar excitement in her voice is hard to forget.

"Hey Imogen," Jason replies, finding himself smiling a little. It was perhaps a little bigger than his usual one, but could he help it if he was excited for this step in his life. "I'm heading for my first day as a Ranger. I guess mom hasn't told many people yet."

He looks down at the Umbreon, "Is this Brighteyes? When did this happen?" He hopes it's been recent and he hasn't missed out on that much information.

"Oh! Cool, explore all the cool stuff above the ground? Leaving all the neat treasure for me under it! I like this plan," Imogen grinned, people moved at different speeds. And she was very motivated when she jumped into delving years ago. "I hope you meet a lot of really nice Pokemon out there!"

"Two nights ago, we were having some fun exploring and it just happened. He seems okay with it," Imogen knew Eevees had all manner of direction, and checked with her partner as to what he wanted to be... but he didn't pick anything. But the two being creatures of the night seemed to suit them well enough. "We weren't even doing any heavy training, just... enjoying the sights as best we could."

That was one way of looking at it and Jason didn't mind so much if someone else got the treasures. That had never been his reason for going down anyway. He glanced up at Piper and nodded, "Let's just hope Piper approves." If the bird got jealous of any new friends he isn't sure what he'd do. But, that was a concern for another day. He's pretty sure Piper would warm up to any new pokemon around if she just gave them a chance. "I think it'll work out all right though."

He smiles, "That sounds like it was for the best. I'm glad to see you both doing well."

Imogen's eyes move over to Jason's partner, "Piper, Jason is allowed to make friends out there. And just because he has new friends does not mean anything. You're his partner, and you look out for him." Imogen for all the strays she brought home, only one was Brighteyes, and he was her best friend and constant partner in crime. The others she expected to find new homes as she explored, Brighteyes was different. He was home.

"My discretionary budget is getting worked a bit feeding one of my latest foundlings. Who knew a giant rock dragon lizard could eat so much." Imogen's family was rich, but she was on an allowance that was finite, no matter how she treated it. Seriously, Bluescale was always hungry and never satisfied. Brighteyes shook his head at the mention of the large dinosaur Pokemon, because he wasn't there to tell her this was a stupid plan. "I need to argue more for better salvage deals, or maybe start charging for clothing alternations! What will people think."

Piper ruffles her feathers, but otherwise trills in acknowledgement. She was Jason's first pokemon and she knew that meant something important to the both of them.

"Looks like she knows," Jason adds, raising a finger to rub under Piper's beak.

Jason blinks and looks back down at Imgoen, "Uh...I would think the fact that he's a giant rock dragon lizard would be some kind of clue actually." He hopes he'll get to see the dragon soon. He really hadn't spoken to Imgoen in awhile and he should probably fix that. "I'm sure you'll think of something in the meantime."

"Nobody had seen one of these before several of us found them in the caves... so nobody really knew!" The whole caves thing was more questions than answers, which is probably why they needed Rangers. "Besides, most rocks and steels eat minerals, not berries or smaller Pokemon. Which Bluescale keeps wanting to do. I'm working on figuring out what his exact diet is."

"Oh well, I can try to take some odd jobs in the city, or look to make up some cost working my charms negotiating with wild Pokemon again." Imogen never really seemed to carry too many worries in that head of her's.

"Fair enough." It sounded like it was going to be a lot of work in the meantime. But, Imogen had always been really good with Pokemon and it sounded like she was making some progress already. "So how many other people bonded with them? I've heard rumors about what happened down there but I'm not sure I've heard the full story yet."

"Two others, I think, that's what the Habitat people say anyway." Imogen realized that talking about the giant dinosaur that rampaged on her quest under the earth might make a rookie Ranger a little nervous.

"But don't worry, I think those machines had to do with how... big, he was. Unless more of those show up, you should be fine!"

It really doesn't. Jason is too curious to think about the dangers such an encounter might have posed. Besides, it's clear that Imogen came out okay for it. Although, it was true the earthquakes had been a little scary, Jason had managed to keep his cool for the most part.

"Good to know. I'm sure the Rangers will tell me more about it if that becomes a regular problem...which hopefully it won't."

Roxas was taking his usual route from the University with Sora the Eevee who, once again, was on the mission to find more people for Roxas to talk to. It's been easier to do so after Roxas' encounter with his twin brother a few weeks ago so he's hoping to score again today.

Right before Roxas tries to turn to his path away from population Sora notices Jason and Piper nearby and bounds over to them to say hello. Roxas had little choice but to follow his Eevee but the delay causes Sora to look like he's just some random Eevee running up to them.

Jason is alerted to the approaching Eevee by a quick trill from Piper, still perched on his shoulder. He looks to his left and sees the little pokemon approaching. It certainly seems friendly enough and Jason leans down to address it, "Hey little guy. Are you lost?"

Having lived with a pokemon that could turn into a human, Jason finds he's pretty good at reading the body language of most pokemon...though of course some of them are much different about how they communicate such things.

Piper trills again and now he hears footsteps. Jason's eyes move up from the pokemon to the approaching boy, "Oh. Hey is the Eevee yours?"

Sora shakes his head at the question. He's certainly not lost as he always makes sure he's nearby Roxas even whenever he runs off to go look at something or do what he's doing right now.

When that trainer does get close enough and hears Jason's question he nods his head. Sora looks back at him and flicks his tail. Not only has he been trying to get his trainer to meet more people but also to actually speak to them as well. Thankfully Roxas gets the hint.

"He's mine. He likes meeting new people."

Jason offers a small smile to them both. He can tell the boy must be pretty shy or quiet if he relies on his Pokemon to introduce him to people. Then again, maybe Jason is just jumping to conclusions.

"I can see that. So I guess if we're meeting that means exchanging names right? I'm Jason and this is Piper," he gestures to the bird pokemon.

Jason's conclusion is one that many people jump to whenever they do speak with him. It's not quite correct but it's enough without having to explain and make things even more awkward.

"... Roxas. This is Sora," he says as he looks down at his Eevee. Sora wags his tail once more. He can officially add Jason and Piper to 'list of people Roxas has met'!

The fact that Sora has a list like that is pretty adorable, at least Piper seems to think so. She chirps happily, spreading her wings out and ruffling her feathers in approval. She needs to work on getting Jason out there more. He has friends, but he tends to go alone a lot of the time for whatever reason. Probably because he's kind of quiet, but he's friendly so it balances out.

"Nice to meet you, Roxas," Jason finally replies, not meaning to interrupt Piper, but wanting to continue the conversation...even if it seems to be proceeding awkwardly. "So where were you heading before Sora took the detour?"

Sora flicks his tail happily at Piper's chirping. He's glad that she thinks so! He wants to build up that list as much as possible for when Roxas becomes more talkative!

Roxas nods his head in response to Jason's response. It was nice to meet you too if it made Sora happy.

"Heading home from school," Roxas said.

Well let's hope it's soon, otherwise if this is the extent of their conversations we have a long way to go. Roxas isn't the only one to blame though, Jason may be friendly and outgoing, but he's always been a little slow to get conversations started right.

"Ah. Guess we must have been in different classes...but I've also been allowed to move on. I'm actually heading to meet with the Rangers now that my application was accepted." He pauses and then adds, "It's my first day."

Yes, it being soon would be a very good thing for the both of them.

"The Rangers?" The seemed to have gotten Roxas' attention. He still has that same almost emotionless tone to his voice but there is a slight hint of curiosity there.

"Yeah," Roxas may maintain his emotionless tone, but there is an excitement creeping in to Jason's own voice. "I've been wanting to join them since I was a kid. Explore what's beyond the wall and become stronger to help Union."

He grins but then rubs at his neck, "Guess it sounds silly...but that's why I want to do it anyway." Jason looks up, "Do you want to be a Ranger, too?"

Roxas wasn't sure what to think of it. Maybe it's because he isn't native to Union and doesn't think he really enjoys the outdoors. But he isn't going to be a damper on Jason's mood.

Though he shakes his head at Jason's question. "No. My brother want to, though." He himself never though about it but at the same time he never even thinks about even going outside half the time.

He'd thought he'd had a conversation there, but it looks like he would have better luck with the brother. Jason drops his hands, slipping them into his pockets. "Is that so. What's your brother's name?" He pauses and then decides to ask, "Is there something you want to do...after University I mean."

Anyone would have better luck with Sora. It's currently very much so the more communicative one of the two. "His name is Sora." He then shakes his head, "I... I don't know. I'm only there 'cause they told me to go. To get outside more."

The same name as the Eevee? Well, Jason isn't really one to talk. He named Piper after someone he knew. Of course he had his own reasons for doing that. "Well, hey, there's no rush right? There's plenty of things to find to do around here and the University is a good place to explore that kind of thing. I thought I was going to be a Delver for awhile...but eventually I changed my mind."

Roxas nods his head once more. True that there is no rush. If there was then he probably would have been forced to move on already having been at the ward for a year. "Right." There's a small pause before he actually speaks again. "What changed your mind."

Jason considers the question. "Well, for one I prefer the outdoors to caves and the underground. Delvers spend a lot of time there after all. I think the other thing that changed my mind was I felt I could do more for Union outside of it. It just seemed like it would be a fun adventure."

And that was probably part of it too. He'd grown up with his mom taking him down into the caves the Delvers explored. He'd seen them and now that he had a choice he wanted to see other things.

Although Roxas isn't fond of being outside in general he can still agree with that. His trip to Old City wasn't a fun one and he definitely like being above ground than below ground. "That... makes sense. Being underground isn't very fun."

He honestly don't see how people would want to be a delver. In truth being a ranger sounds more pleasant between the two.

"It's for some people, just not me."

Jason smiles pleasantly and then shifts. "Well, it was nice talking to you Roxas. I need to report in though and I don't want to be late my first day." That would leave a poor impression, for sure. Jason directs his attention to Sora again, "I'll see you both around, okay?"

Both Roxas and Sora nods their heads.

"Yes. See you around. Good luck," Roxas said. Though before Jason ever gets the chance to respond he simply turns and starts walking off.
