012 // action - haruka's misfortunes, union edition
[ Haruka Tenoh is always learning new things. Today's lesson: don't walk your Rhyhorn when the roads are icy. It will slide out of control, sprain people's ankles, and you'll be responsible for picking up their slack on what would happen to be the busiest day of the year at their workplace.
On a completely unrelated note, this dairy booth in the market district appears to be doing a booming business! It's also completely pink - pink drapes, heart-shaped balloons attached to the poles, Miltank plushies lining the shelves, and a Rhyhorn wearing a pink blanket squatting outside with a basket of chocolate in its mouth. Behind the counter (assisted by a Wooper in a pink bow tie) is the most brilliantly handsome salesman ever to grace the street, advertising in a voice that could rattle a packed theater. (She's also wearing a pink apron and a baker's hat shaped like a Luvdisc. Today has a theme.) Her sales pitch goes something like this: ]
Step right up, ladies and gentlemen! What you see here's available for one day only: Luvdisc-shaped chocolate for the health of your romance! Strawberry Miltank milk for the health of your body! And, with a purchase of just twenty-five dollars or more, we'll throw in a special four-piece chocolate sampler as thanks for being our sweetest customers! How about it?!
[ A middle-aged woman walking her Snubbull approaches the vendor. Could she have some Miltank cheese and a Luvdisc chocolate, please? Haruka graces her with her very best Divine Theater smile. ] But of course, Madam. If that's what you desire...
[ The woman looks about ready to faint back onto her Snubbull. Haruka would also dearly love to lose consciousness right now. Why is she so good at this? It's absurd to think she might be naturally gifted at spouting nonsense!
At least she's only served strangers thus far. ]

Woop woop woop woop woop! [ Wooper, thrilled by this Big Sale, begins tap-dancing across the display case. Haruka's busy enough that, as she fetches the milks, she hasn't noticed who's ordered them.
Yet. ]

Plus it's hard to refuse this depressed and shy Delibird. ]

And now, one for the -
[ She hands Melaka the other bottle, and their eyes meet.
Oh. Oh.
Hopefully neither of them drop this bottle. ]
no subject
Wow.
Haruka works here??
the Delibird had been thankful but what the shit did you just do ]
no subject
[ Awkwardness can wait; there's broken glass on the street and, potentially, Melaka's hand. Haruka immediately ducks behind the counter to grab a broom, vaulting said counter instead of coming around it like a normal person, because why should she do that. ] Are you okay, Skitty?
no subject
[ And she winces, but grunts as she tries to pull out the largest piece of glass in her hand... by hand. With the other one. He looks, concerns, and motions for everyone else around to stand back. The Delibird looks awkwardly at everything here and steps back, himself ]
no subject
and doesn't care that she got milk on the broom. ] Don't try doing that yourself. Let me see.[ How bad is that hand, anyway? She wants to help, but even Haruka knows her limits. Darnit. Melaka's being really decent about this, but Haruka still feels bad. ]
no subject
So other than some particularly big pieces, nothing pieced the palm or the wrists. No, there's just some smaller pieces in the tips of her fingers by now which are the bigger issue.
She wants to grumble she's find, but ... okay, here's her hand, Haruka. ]
no subject
[ She'd probably look a lot more noble if her Luvdisc hat wasn't all up in Melaka's business during this process. ]
no subject
... Well, even since some moment in her past. Also hellos luvdisc. Are you a floating fish? Half-glance at the thing before back to Haruka ]
It's what I'm good at.
[ She would shrug, but she's being operated on ]
no subject
When Haruka's satisfied, she pulls a handkerchief out of her apron and sets about tying it around the injuries. ] Do you need a Potion?
[ There's probably one in the shop somewhere... ]
no subject
No, no need to waste money on me there. I've always healed fast.
[ She would injure herself and show it healing up normally, but she senses Haruka would react poorly to it. Still, Melaka's hands have already had the wounds seal up okay, because of her ability to Recover. She could change - no, should change the topic though ] Are you working here too?
no subject
Woop woop woop! [ This is Wooper's sales pitch, such as it is. He sounds way more into this than Haruka, who's trying to look innocent and failing. ]
no subject
So,secret gig?
no subject
no subject
As for the delibird, he looks curious at that, asking about their sense of goodwill and doing tis... that's pretty admirable. But as for Mel - ]
Who would have thought a pretty thing like you'd need to be pushing chump change?
no subject
[ Here you are. Yours is okay, right, Delibird? Ah, you were talking to Wooper. Who is now explaining what happened. People can't really work after Rhyhorn run right into them! It's only natural. ] Wooop!
[ ....There's no safe place to look around here, is there. Haruka returns to sweeping. ] What about you? How's patrolling in winter?
no subject
[ She says it all a bit matter-of-factly as she accepts the milk, moving it around in her palm before testing her grip on it again - good, it doesn't hurt to hold things. She notices Haruka isn't making eye contact, and frankly, she's not sure what to make of it, not... yet.
But oh! The Delibird nods at this, yeah, that would get in the way of giving presents to people, he knows that feeling well ]
no subject
Haruka nods along, looking back over when the Enhanced are mentioned. ] Here's hoping you get a respite.
[ Both so you can rest up and since, yeah, that means Union's not being invaded. ]
no subject
[ But ....ooh... that's so kind of you, wooper!! He stumbles closer, bringing his wings up to try to touch the other ]
no subject
[ Haruka nods to the milk in Melaka's hand. ] I'll drink to that.
[ Especially that last bit. For so many reasons. ]
no subject
[ He will touch him. And feel the slime. Embraces the slime.
But Melaka will rock the milk in her hand ]
no subject
Wooper grins. (It's technically poison slime, but he's a super weak Wooper, so he isn't potent.) He made a friend! ] Woop.
[ Do you want to come in the back where it's warmer, Delibird? ]
no subject
[ But she's not going to refuse it - it sounds fun, to lean here and have milk with her. Melaka glances down at her Delibird, who is looking up at her for confirmation - he likes the cold, but this is a friend and he might spread good cheer... Melaka can't read that at a glance, but she nods all the same. Go on and do whatever you want, that's the agreement that they had in bonding. So the bird grins (as much as one can with a beak, it's in the eyes) and nods to the wooper. Let's get warm? If you want! Sure!
But Melaka, pops the cap off the milk, and holds it up to toast ]
