[the warp band video is as grainy and black and white as always. When it comes on, it's pointed toward the kitchen table. Laid out on the table are feathers. Three of them are about three feet long, and another four are between a foot and six inches. Even without color, it's possible to tell that these aren't just any ordinary feathers. These feathers seem to be made of gleaming metal, the individual barbs at the base coalescing into solid steel just a few inches higher.

Then, Eren speaks

Hey. I'm finally done molting, so I have a new crop of feathers to sell or trade. Molting sucks. But at least I can make some money off of it. I used two of them to make new swords for myself, and then payment for the blacksmith, and then a few weren't really high enough quality to be used…

uh. Oh! If you don't know, Skarmory feathers make some of the best swords ever. They're light and just flexible enough to not break, and they hold an edge like no one's business. [Eren turns the warp band to himself, and he draws one of his swords. It only vaguely resembles the feathers on the table] You just have to take them to one of the blacksmiths in town and you can get whatever kind of hilt you want on it. The smaller feathers make good knives and stuff.

Anyway, prices are negotiable, but don't expect to get these cheap. They're worth a lot more than you'd think, but I'd figure I'd try and sell them over the warp bands first. I know there's lots of Guards and Rangers and [he makes a small gagging noise] Swords check the warp network a lot. [pause] Even if you don't need a blade, they make good gifts.

Log Deputy: Void
Participating Characters: Jade Curtiss, Chester Barklight, Cress Albane
Plot Description: Going deep down into the depths of the Old City to search for powerful Pokemon
Warnings/Notes: Possible violence?

[There have always been rumours floating around that tell of highly dangerous Pokemon lurking in the Old City, just waiting to ambush unsuspecting Delvers. Someone somewhere decided it was high time to investigate, which is why Jade finds himself down in his least favourite place in the world, along with a possibly-suicidal Ranger and his best friend, who didn't even happen to be a Ranger.

It's a rather annoying situation, to put it mildly.

It takes a lot of walking (and a few circuitous paths; Jade doesn't want them venturing anywhere near his old laboratories) before they finally venture deep enough into the Old City that they're in an area all but unexplored by people from the Union. Jade raises his lamp high, trying to take stock of their surroundings.]

I'm sure there's no need to tell the two of you to be cautious.

So, I've been wondering.

[Maya's on the video again. That can only mean one thing, right? That she's bored?

...Surprisingly, it's more than that this time.]

Doesn't anyone else think it's weird that ghost types can lay eggs?

I mean, even my favourite-- [...Don't give her that look, Shi.] --second favourites lay eggs.

Speaking of, you guys know of these pokémon, right?

[She holds up a picture of ghastly and gengar, doodled with ink.]

It's kinda hard to catch Gengar around here, but I really want one sometime. Does anyone have ghastly eggs to trade?

I got to use the breeding center with Kika once! But since ghost eggs are so weird, I think I'll send Shi over sometime. Anyway, we shouuuld totally talk about that if you're into the idea.

Otherwise, have a good night, everybody!

[Hello Union. Enjoy the expression of a man who decided to go for a walk to enjoy the weather and ended up the perch of more than a dozen pokemon who have apparently decided that he's a comfortable and non-threatening spot to attach themselves to for a bit. He's certain that someone is going to get a good laugh out of this, but that's not terribly important at the moment.]

...I appear to be in somewhat of a predicament. Despite my efforts so far, I have been unable to convince them that I am not entirely comfortable with this. If anyone wouldn't mind providing assistance...?

[If anyone should come across the poor man, he's right where he was when he stopped talking into the Warp Band, trying desperately to convince the swarm of bugs, plants, and fairies that it's quite nice to see them but he really would like to not be anchored to one spot anymore.]

After an unusually long and cold winter, the land is finally beginning to stir in the anticipation of spring. In the forest, the first flowers are beginning to peek out of the ground, the hum of Bug Pokémon begin to be heard, and of course, the first wisps of pollen begin to incite misery amongst the more sensitive of the population. The sun sets later and later each night, and at the end of a long workday, the prospect of escaping early to enjoy a stroll out in the brisk spring air becomes more and more enticing.

The pall cast by Team Evolution has long faded into little more than a distant cloud on the horizon. Though the mystery of 'Mega Evolution' remains unsolved, it seems inconsequential in the face of the strength that Union itself is gaining. All damage from the earthquakes has finally been fully repaired, production of iron and steel has been greatly enhanced by the discovery of the mine, there were plans to build a new port and to enhance the range of the Signal Tower, Enlightened and Pokémon everywhere were evolving one after another... On the whole, morale was high.

The city takes it upon itself to reflect this.

When the people of Union begin to stir early one spring morning, they will awaken to discover a cheerful city, indeed. All of Union, overnight, has become covered with vines and shrubs and flowers - plant life, everywhere the eye could see. Though the majority haven't yet begun to flower, the rainbow assortment of buds promises a lovely sight to come in the near future. A few citizens, annoyed, set to work removing the intrusive flora from their properties, but the majority simply take the unusual sight for what it is.

And for the particularly observant, dotted here and there among the landscape, the occasional large pink blossom can be spotted already in full bloom...

[Eren is sitting on his beat up old couch. Though his lap isn't visible, the ear of the pokémon resting in it is, and the long pointy Jolteon ear twitches.]

Does time just... get away from you more as you get older? My birthday came and went and I didn't even notice until just today, when I looked at my calendar. I guess I'm 17 now? I never actually feel any older until I think about stuff like how time moves and...

[whew that is way too esoteric for Eren's little birdbrain. He drops that train of thought]

Anyway. I don't know if you all heard, but Jean and I discovered this pretty neat rock over in the mountains. It looks like it's solid ice, and it's super cold. He and I found these Glaceons there.

Glaaaaaai ceeee!! ({Human!! Tell them what I told you to say!}) [a pokémon's voice from somewhere off screen. It sounds irritated. Eren rolls his eyes.]

Oh uh. Right. Bean wants me to tell you that if you go to visit the Sacred Ice Rock, you need to bring an offering of some kind. Or whatever.

What? I told you I know how to use it already. I figured it out.

[The voice comes from off screen, no sign of this Warp Band's user yet. There is, however, a tiny Cleffa poking the image curiously.]

I figured you would, Chester, but I can't get mine to work yet...

[A second voice is close, sounding a lot less stuffy about the whole thing.]

[Finally, Chester lifts up his Warp Band from his Cleffa's little paws, aiming the screen at them both... or trying to... Cress's head is kind of half cut off.]

There, see? Just use mine while I figure yours out.

Oh! Yeah, okay. [Cress takes it, while Chester goes off screen again. He gives a sheepish smile.] This is all new to me... I even forgot what I was gonna say. ... Oh, yeah, Team Evolution!

[He looks away from the screen, presumably at Chester, for a moment. Then he smiles back at the "audience".]

The tournament was really cool while it lasted... right up to the end. I don't know how to feel about the whole Mega Evolution thing but, huh. I wonder what other Pokemon can do that?

[His Honedge reaches for the screen with his "hand," and Cress brushes him off.]

It'd be cool, wouldn't it? As long as it wasn't hurting the Pokemon, I guess...

[Chester tosses Cress's Warp Band back at him and takes his own off of the blond. He doesn't look happy.]

I don't care about that stuff. I'm just glad they're gone. [He pauses, and looks away.] I wish we knew where exactly they'd come from, though. We could go after them. If we needed to.

[Cress, in the background, looks a little worried, but ultimately just sighs and puts his Warp Band back around his wrist.]

{ooc: This is a dual intro for Chester ([personal profile] aniiue) and Cress ([personal profile] 90sbangs)! Either we'll both respond, or say who you want in the header of your reply!]

The 10th day of Team Evolution's visit dawns.

The night before, the Council had sent out another message commenting about their decision concerning the machines. They could not in good faith return any to Team Evolution after what had happened. But in exchange, they would offer an example of Warp Band technology and explain the means by which Union trainers and Pokémon communicate. This particular Warp Band could operate only one way - it could only receive messages directly sent to its particular address. There was no chance of the team being able to tap in to the network.

The Council did not make any comment on the extraordinary events that had occurred the previous day. It seems nobody knew anything about Mega Evolution or what to make of it.

Early on the 10th morning, representatives from the Council could be seen speaking with the leading members of Team Evolution once more, and though Rory appears disappointed, he does not argue overly much. The rest of their team is already in the process of packing up their tents... To the side, Crystal and Sakina can be seen, having reappeared after their unceremonious departure earlier. Crystal stays close by Sakina at all times; the latter seems vaguely disoriented.

Idle talk would have it that they intend to leave before noon. But there is some time for last minute conversations still, though they would necessarily need to be short.

Before departure, Rory has something more to say as well to anyone within earshot.

"We thank you for your hospitality, and we hope that we have given you all something to ponder. I will not belabor our departure by repeating what I said previously, but it is truly our fervent goal that we may build a world where neither humans nor Pokemon need live in fear. If any of you wish to contact us, we have been told that this Warp Band is capable of receiving direct messages. We would be glad to hear from any of you.

"We understand our previous actions caused a great deal of damage within this city. While we can do little to beg your forgiveness, we do wish to leave you with a token of good will."

He will bow, then.

"Perhaps we can agree on one thing - let us hold faith in the bright future of this world!"
