Happy Salvation Everyone!

All across Union, its citizens prepared to ring in the Salvation holiday with cheer. Dedicated to their beloved Savior, many of the houses were decorated with garlands, ornaments and other fineries in preparation for this truly special holiday, and while it had been uncharacteristically cold the last few days, not a single flake of snow had fallen till now. Children eager to start the festivities the following day did their best to stay up in the hopes of possibly catching a glimpse of one of the Delibirds they saw the previous night. However, try as they might, the late night would get the better of them, and soon the city was asleep, nestled warm in their beds, dreaming of parties and presents, candies and cakes.

And when they wake, they’ll all find a surprise waiting for them at the foot of their beds. An open window, or an open door, with a strange yet familiar pokemon sitting there looking up expectantly at them. The pokemon all have a little bow fastened to them, and surge forward to affectionately hug/nuzzle/scratch at whatever human has caught their interest. Almost like they’ve already bonded with them and they won’t take no for an answer.

The day is filled with festive cheer, fresh snow and ice coating the streets that have finally truly recovered from the disastrous events of the past year. Feasts crop up, Pokemon and People roam the streets freely, and there are concerts all throughout the day and into the evening. Glacier metal, Gigan electronica, Calderan samba, Union’s classical, and the warchats of Citadel all echo throughout the city, making Union feel vibrant and alive once more

Go eat, drink and be merry on this day, and marvel at the strange new intruders that seem to have latched on so tightly! Surely you want to show your new friend around their new home, after all!

[[ Happy Salvation! Players are encouraged to mingle however they wish in this post. Go out and deliver your own gifts to friends and family. Explore the winter wonderland with your new Pokémon friend! And wish the upcoming new year hello. ]]

Invasion: Start

The morning after the meteor shower, things start as they always do. Union’s gearing up for another day: people going to work, shops opening, kids heading to school, and foremen getting their crews to work on the last of the damage left by Kyurem’s rampage through the city. It’s just an ordinary day, with only a passing thought given to yesterday’s odd occurrences by anyone outside the scientific and psychic communities. There’s some very real theories floating around there, but there’s little real chance at anything solid coming from the discourse. At least, until reports start coming up Route 1 from the single port started by one Union entrepreneur two years ago. It’d grown quickly with Gigan help, seaborne trade flowing up the lone road, and now it was completely overrun.

Panicked sailors and land crew come streaming up the way, nursing hundreds and hundreds of Bug-type induced injuries. Beedrill stings, Spinarak bites, and photographs of several enormous members of a new species that’d yet to be recorded quickly circulate and prompt Council response. Whatever these things are, they’re clearly hostile and the risk of damage to the city itself seems likely given how quickly the port had been overwhelmed.

With the city still shaken by Kyurem’s attack, the Council wasted no time. The call to arms was put out and trainers hastily sent out to deal with the sudden intrusion. Anyone willing and able to fight was asked to head down the road as quickly as possible, with the intent of sorting this out and either diverting the tide or stopping the invasion cold. The road itself is deserted, abandoned wagons left in a hurry, and not a single wild Pokemon can be heard for miles. It’s almost like they were aware something big was coming, and even the more aggressive types clearly opted to clear out.

When it comes into view, the port itself seems to be in particularly bad shape. Smoke rises up into the horizon, and hundreds and hundreds of Bug types swarm all over the structures, chewing away at the wood and stone. But perhaps the most troublesome sight is the beings that are overseeing the attack. Several members of the new species, fifteen feet tall at minimum, twenty at the peak, direct the swarm in its efforts. And further out to sea, a singularly massive specimen, some forty feet tall, watches it all, hunched forward, dark eyes gleaming with interest as its minions go to work…

Let There Be Light (Tenebris & Lumens - Sanctuary)

[The change in seasons, from summer to autumn, was subtle to most people who lived and thrived on the lands across the continent. The heat of the season still lingered, but with each passing day it seemed that the winds grew brisker and dusk came just a little quicker. But, in the winding streets of Sanctuary, both Magi and Earthkin alike expressed their deepest, most heartfelt emotions in a rare show of unity between the two populations-- for charms and solemn ceremonies of Tenebris, conducted to honor the fallen from the ancient cataclysm that rent the world asunder, didn’t discriminate between those born in the gleaming towers and those born on the streets. The week long remembrance and the celebration that followed was the only time of the year when everyone could set aside their frustrations and treat everyone as equals.

Even the city itself seemed changed. Shopkeepers and housewives scoured and scrubbed every surface on their homes and the lands surrounding them, and even the students at the Academy took time in between their studies to sweep out their rooms and dust off their bookshelves. Tenebris was more than a memorial, but a celebration of new beginnings as well.

Then, at midnight on the last night, the somber silence that had befallen the city suddenly broke with an explosion of lights and colors-- for Lumens had come, and the celebration of Sanctuary’s founding and it’s promise to preserve and share the light of knowledge with the world had begun. Colorful lanterns gleamed at every street corner, and few could be recognized behind the brilliant masks they had donned for the second week of celebration.

And, on the eve of the equinox that fell on the last day, the whole of the city gathers together as one body and releases a flurry of lanterns to dance among the stars in the night as a renewal of that ancient promise the Seer had made to the world: The towers would exist so long as there was knowledge to preserve, and the curious were welcome to come and seek it. The heart of the city would beat proudly for them, and anyone in time could come to understand it.]

It's a Small (Brave New) World After All - 2nd Annual World's Fair

[It’s been a long year in this brave new world, in which the known span of human civilization has expanded more than ever before - but also come together. Between the attacks on Glacier and Union and the war with Gigas, an event like the World’s Fair feels especially poignant.

Union is making the best of it, too. Hosting the Fair for the second year in a row, the organizers have decided to use this attention to show off their newly rebuilt city, encouraging visitors to tour their refurbished industrial district and enjoy local culture at a theater or on the radio. Once more, said Entertainment District has decided to play host, and any number of booths and stalls can be seen lining the streets, with special discounts available to fairgoers at local businesses.

Excitement is running high - but so is tension. Gigas has been formally invited this year, and accepted with gusto; so has Glacier. Gigan tourists are easily identified by the propensity they have for taking pictures of everything (using much smaller cameras than anyone in Union has ever seen!) and for conversing in very loud voices about how quaint and old-fashioned and charming everything is. Will the goodwill the two cities forged after the Emperor’s fall manage to withstand the might of Gigas’s nationalism? Only time will tell.

Time, and the goodheartedness of the Union people. It’s time for the second World’s Fair!]

Thespians for Sale! (Date Auction)

Who: The Union Divine Theater, volunteers, and YOU(r money)!
What: Date Auction/Raffle for fundraising
When: September 3
Where: Union Divine Theater
Warnings: Excessive fabulousness.

Almost there! It had taken them the better part of a year, but the Union Divine Theater had nearly been restored in the aftermath of Kyurem’s attack. As a historic monument, they had to be careful to only use period-appropriate building materials, and employed only the finest craftsmen. But now they’re nearly ready for business again.

So of course, they’re holding a fundraiser. And, of course, it’s a date auction.

Not just any date auction, though! The courtyard has been taken up with several small tables, behind which each thespian being raffled off is seated. Interested bidders are welcome to chat with the “prizes” or to check out the long line of tables across from the auction decorated with several super-classy glass jars. Each jar has a person’s name on it, and a small watercolor picture of the person in question next to it. These individuals have volunteered (or been volunteered) to serve as extra dates - just buy a ticket from the Slowking and the Wooper at the end of the tables and you can enter to win!

Small placards scattered throughout the event specify that all “prizes” must be 18 years or over, and that all dates must be family-friendly. All “prizes” also have the option, if they desire, of specifying which gender of date they prefer. Additionally, while the humans mingle, their Pokémon are encouraged to chat with the Nidoking who’s waiting just inside the theater. He’s giving tours of the stage area complete with the option of putting on a production! Be sure to tell your Trainers to buy tickets to the Theater’s next show!

The event will run all day, with bidding starting at $25 (Union currency). Are you ready to make a new friend??

[[ OOC: The date raffle and auction is live! Please follow the instructions beneath each top-level below. Each character being auctioned will have their own auction thread, where all bids go for that character - threadjacking is encouraged, and a mingle thread where people can talk to that character. Each character being raffled has their own section for people to note they’ve put in a ticket, but these can all be replies to the top-level. Each character being raffled also has their own spot for mingling. OOCly, results for the auctions and raffles will be announced in about a week.

Pokémon interested in performing on stage can leave top-level comments in the section at the bottom of the post. Their scene partner tags in with a result from the RP Scenario Generator: this is the scene the two Pokémon are encouraged to act out. An assortment of costume pieces, sets, and props are available. Break a leg! ]]

If I may impose on the city for just a moment, I am having a... I suppose conundrum, as I refuse to be so overdramatic as to label it as a crises.

My fiancé, Rei, and my wedding is in November and while I have much planned and coordinated, the location for our wedding and reception just went bankrupt and closed. I am left trying to find a new location that will accommodate massive pokemon of Lapras, Dragonite, and Charizard sizes and even a bit bigger.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

[Ami hates hitches in her plans. But at least she has over two months to try and fix this. She already had her high-strung moment of panic before a swim and calming down.]

[Once the dust settles, Sinbad's leading his newly bonded gengar, Furfur the growlithe around on a tour of the city, he could be found all over: Teeter's, The habitat, the marketplace, the libraries. He has a backpack with a small amount of groceries on his back]

You're free to go anywhere you please - people don't mind at all.

You humans like to build high.

Yeah, pretty dizzying isn't it? I hope you don't mind heights.

I float. Of course I don't mind heights, idiot.

[Sinbad stops, giving an annoyed, long-suffering sigh]

Are you ever going to stop calling me that?

No.

Oh! Ja'far! Be careful not to phase through anyone!

Not my fault they're not paying attention.

[The two proceed to bicker, not too seriously though, the gengar hoving lazily, not watching for people, and Sinbad gesturing vividly as he speaks, while Furfur looks between the two, and the three are kind of in the way, so now what?]

I am the new Chief of the Swords of the Savior West City Branch, Veronica. My transfer from Glacier has just been approved. I thank the people of Union for their hospitality and hereby pledge to defend you. Please do not hesitate--

[ Veronica's broadcast is interrupted by a burst of high-pitched laughter from offscreen and then a Noibat bobs into the picture, barely able to keep flapping to stay in the air. You're making the whole city hear your reporting for duty?! No wonder the place will remain safe. At this rate, they'll all be sleeping from boredom--- ] Noooooi~!! Noinoinoi!

[ action 1 - evening, out and about ]

[ Recently equipped with Union civilian attire - they were selling some quite nice pieces at a shop near the entertainment district, billed as "inspired by the Union Divine Theater", whatever that means - Veronica is getting a feel for the city. She's nursing a wine on a terrace outside, attempting to accustom her body to the heat, but also watching the traffic flow carefully. Nemesis the Noibat is "sitting" across from her, sucking on the straw of a very fancy juice. In fact, there's more food in front of the bat than there is in front of the human.

[ action 2 - evening/night, streets of union ]

It's too nice an evening for this. Apologize and we won't have to take you in.

[ Veronica approaches Mankey slowly, very slowly. She's used to walking on the thin crust of ice that has now appeared on the pavement, the weather anomaly only affecting the area around her.

Anyone rushing to try and grab that Mankey themselves, however....might not be so lucky. Watch your step! ]

Something Psychic This Way Comes (Nightmare Catch-All)

The people of Union have had an odd week. While it was nice to cap things off with the knowledge that Gigas is not going to try and invade them again (for now), the population has had to deal with a different sort of intruder. Namely, Abra. Abra teleporting anywhere and everywhere. Abra teleporting places to try and hide.

Absolutely terrified Abra. To say nothing of the dreams the city's Psychic-types have discussed.

And now, as a new week dawns...the nightmares spread to everyone. Without exception. Perhaps you're fortunate and things that go bump in the night don't frighten you, but sleeping brings a sense of dread, and a hazy vision of a world in ruins. Night after night after night. The first one is horrifying for shock value. The next few are horrifying because they won't stop.

How will you deal? Where will you go, in the middle of the night, if you're the sort who tries to clear their heads? Will you share what you've been experiencing or keep it to yourself?

No matter what you do, the nightmares continue. And the Abra continue to shiver.

[[ This is a catch-all post/mingle for people wanting to react to their weird nightmares! As mentioned here, they have now spread to the entire population. Players are welcome to continue making their own posts addressing the nightmares if they prefer. ]]

I've recently come into possession of an intriguing Pokémon. Would anyone be interested in helping me discover its capabilities?

[ No signature. Just.....this. This, on everyone's Warp Bands. Sure, if you look hard enough you can trace the signal, but that doesn't mean much, does it? Who is this "Ken Ichijouji" kid?

Maybe with this, Union will start to learn. ]

[Now that it's been a few days since the Attack on Titan Gigas, Lenna feels like it's time to make another public address.  She's wearing her best fancy clothes, befitting her role as head of the Tycoon family, her small dragon horns and wings as immaculately groomed as her hair and skin.]

Hello, friends.  I hope everyone was able to make it back home safely, and that everyone who fought in the battle is on their way to a full recovery.  Once again, we've accomplished something amazing - dethroning Gigas' corrupt Emperor and forging peace anew between our people.  Hopefully, this is only the first step toward a more lasting peace for not only Union and Gigas, but people and Pokemon everywhere.  If we can make our feelings known even to an aggressive society that has traditionally thought of us as an enemy to be conquered, we can surely spread our  ideal of a peaceful world even farther.

It's because of this that I've decided to take a trip to Gigas to see their city and experience their culture for myself, now that the scourge of war is behind us.  If we are to live in this world together, we need to work hard at fostering an understanding between Union and Gigas.  We've been both enemies and allies of convenience in the past, but it's my hope that in the future we can simply be friends.  I'm sure the Council will have their own negotiations with the Gigan command in the coming days, and I do plan to deliver a message of my own as head of the Tycoon family, but first and foremost, I'll be there simply as Lenna.

So, to this end, I'd like to invite anyone else who's interested in getting to know the people of Gigas to come with me.  I expect to set out within the week, and to stay as long as people would like.  I'll pay for travel and lodging for anyone who's worried about being able to cover their own expenses as well.  This is an important turning point in our relationship with Gigas, and I don't want anyone to feel left out.  Union is more than simply the name of our city, after all - it's a way of life, and everyone has a voice.  Now, more than ever, it's important that we let that voice be heard.

Thank you, everyone.  I'll be looking forward to hearing from you.

[ The inside of a room in the Medical center can be found. Garviel is frowning down at his camera, and says ]

Well, I'm stuck in here, and rather bored. I've finished my copy of the Chronicles of Caldera, and I'm looking for suggestions for books. History, mythology, a book of Philosophy, even a manual of mathematical instruction would be better than simply waiting around to heal.

[ Near the Council Hall ]

[ A large man in a white chiton, bandages showing from under his simple white clothing, is sitting and chewing on a sandwich as he is attended by an Oddish and Honedge that waddle and float nearby. He doesn't seem unapproachable though, if someone were to be adventurous enough to approach him ]

So, hey, everyone! I hope everyone's healing up okay after the battle. I know a lot of people got kind of beat up. [She had last time during the first attempt, but she was feeling better now, and having stayed on the scouting team instead of going in fighting had given her the chance to heal up the rest of the way.] I just wanted to let you all know that I'm willing to lend a hand where needed, so just give me a call, okay?

Clash of the Gigans

The opposing armies meet just outside the forest, the more idiosyncratic forces of Union and its allies up against fully-organized Gigan might. Wheeled transports carry many of the enemy troops while strange metal cylinders with rotating blades keeping them aloft swoop around overhead in a near parody of Flying-type Pokémon. And marching among the soldiers and their transports, unmistakable by their bulk, each wearing a metal band around their middles, are the mighty yet enslaved Gods themselves.

The clifflike bulk of Regirock.

The glacial progression of Regice.

The alien presence of Registeel.

And, dead in the center of the formation, towering over them all, the sheer presence of Regigigas, crown jewel of the Emperor’s ill-gotten forces.

There is no attempt to negotiate. No overtures first, no white flags of truce to try working this out. The Gigan army has come to fight, armed with technology. The Union army has come to defend, armed with the bonds between themselves and their Pokémon. This spirit has earned them an additional boon: blessings from the gods who favor Union, who support the humans they believe in with the hopes their comrades can still be rescued.

Thus the battle is joined.

[[ OOC: As noted, all participants in this event get to pick one stat-boosting “blessing” from the gods, just like when they defended from Sveta’s attack. Please note which blessing your character received in their first tag. Also note that Mod tags will come once every 24 hours, unless all characters in the log have replied, then they will come more frequently.]]

Light 'em up (The Calderan Day of Fire)

It's the morning of the 19th and it's clear even to the inexperienced traveler that the city has a different air to it. If it wasn't the atmosphere that got them, then the stalls lining the streets would. Many people are still working on getting set up for the night festival, but the stalls that are complete are lining many corners and they are filled to the brim with bright colors. From afar, the streets look like someone threw a rainbow of paint across the city.

They haven't seen anything yet.

It's not yet time for the festivities so any visitors are free to wander the streets. The natives seem to be delighted if amused at all the people interested in the holiday and are happy to sell anyone as much colored powder as they want. They are glad to explain the fascinating origins of the holiday or even talk shop about what they're planning to show off later in the night. It seems that not even the gloom and unease that might have rolled into town with Union has caused these people to falter with their grandest tradition.

Sometime close to noon is when things change. The natives all kind of stop what they're doing. The colored stalls start to close up and everyone looks tense. Those who visited last year might take this as their cue to get ready.

A long, rattling trumpet sound rings through the streets and that is when all hell breaks loose.

It's every person and pokemon for themselves. Have fun everyone.

[Ooc: Feel free to make your own top levels in addition to using the prompts below! Have fun guys!]

6th Patrol

Near Caldera:

Volcanos are hot. This is something Gordon's known for a long time, even growing up in Union. Just how hot has to be experienced to be believed, however. It's important to learn new things, however.

Gordon is forgoing his usual hat and magically reinforced coat. His white button up shirt is sticking to him as is, through a combination of sweat and the rain storm Mike the Blastoise kicked up to give the pair some relief. He tugs at his suspenders, airing himself a bit, and wipes his brow, eye always scanning the horizon. It seems he's looking for something.

Union, days later:
An unseasonably warm day in Union still feels like heaven after multiple days spent in Caldera, and Gordon and some partners seem intent on enjoying it. He sits on a sleeping Rhydon, a lazily lounging stoutland by his side. A blastoise stands in the little used intersection, water cannons spraying water up into the air where it rains down as a harmless spray, like a fire hydrant with the top taken off.

[Now that he realizes he is likely staying in Union for the long term, Kurapika decided to finally get a warp band, and studied the manual like a good boy. The question now is how to introduce himself, a job is needed of course, he could frame it like a job-seeker request, but that might come off as being a little desperate. He obviously can't tell the whole truth, people have a habit of wanting to help and he doesn't need help, help tends to interfere.

Pairo chirps at him about overthinking]

You're right... I'm not good with people. So just keep it simple?

Puuu!

Should I turn up the volume so you can hear it better?

Boo! Boo!

[The video flickers, and the blond bows his head before he speaks]

Hello. My name is Kurapika, I am a recent arrival - some of you might have met me before, others have not. I have found a place to stay for the time being, but I am seeking employment, are there any places hiring on at least a part-time basis, I do have some specific needs to be met, and I'm unsure how accommodating some jobs will be for it.

[There's a long silent pause, as he tries to consider what else to say - that or he had forgot to turn it off. He seems to start]

I can answer questions, or go into more detail about my request as needed, and is there anything in particular someone new to the city need to know?

[Maka's focus when the video opens is on her Meowstic, Stella, who seems very alert as if searching for something. The Pokemon's ears raise up slightly (but don't unfold) and her gaze shifts restlessly all around.]

This is the fourth week she's brought me out here. I have no idea what she's looking for, it's not like we're training, she's just looking for something.

[A pause while Maka turns the band onto herself, looking perplexed.]

It's kind of dumb that she can "see" things I can't despite both of us being Psychic types. What kind of Psychic type can't foresee anything, right? [Maka you're also a Fairy type and even so, you don't actually want to foresee at all.] I wish she'd tell me what we're looking for instead of just dragging me off without a single word.

[Cats, even when they're imbued with abomination powers they never change. The message ends there and Maka goes back to trying to find whatever they're after.]
